Discussion (5)
  • Habakkuk 1:14-2:5, needing rotation

  • Hello there are two Greek words that I can not find in any lexicon they are on line 8 and 9 from the bottom...They are part of Habakkuk 2:3 they are as follows (( ἐνφάνησεται διαψεύσεται ))
Can you please let me know... Thanks in advance...

  • @Dan Simmons
According to DJD 8 these words appear only in this scroll and not in any other Greek version. This may be the reason you cannot find them in any lexicon. on page 156 of DJD 8 these words are said to be the translations of the Hebrew words יפח and יכזב.

  • Does this add anything to the discussion?

In Field's Origenis Hexaplorum, on the words וְלֹא יְכַזֵּב, the following is indicated for A and S: καὶ οὐ διαψεύσεται. The footnote on this: Idem. Aquilae lectionem mcmorat Euseb. in Dem. Evang. p. 277.

  • Origen indicates that the translation of וְלֹא יְכַזֵּב
according to Aquila and Symmachus is καὶ οὐ διαψεύσεται
