Discussion (1)
  • It is beautiful to see how clear the words “EZER KENEGDO” (עזר כנגדו) are, especially as the only two words of the fragment that are decipherable from the naked eye!! This phrase in itself is so peculiar. For example note how the 3ms possessive suffix waw is attached to an adverb. Might the author be trying to poetically associate through paradigmatic assumption the substitution of a 3ms possessive waw (ו) for a 3ms objective suffix (הו-)?
In this sense “a helper, as (one) before himself” as the same as “a helper, as before him”. One equal and adequate to himself by the inability to be found among the animals. A counter part and corespondent.
