  • This text is very from a very popular and familiar story. This
fragment may be immediately identified by first words: Meshak and Abed nego. This is the story from Daniel, where three
young men were thrown into the fiery furnace.

“These three great men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were bound and cast down into the midst
of the furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king he was amazed and he rose up in
haste and spoke, ‘Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire’?
The counselors answered, ‘true O king’”.

This fragment contains text from Daniel 3:23-25. It may also be found in B-367533
    Plate 1122, Frag 1

Line 1 מישך ועבד נגו נפלו לגוא (Shadrach), Meshach and Abed Nego they fell
to midst of (furnace) this is the end of verse 22

Line 2 אדין נבכדנצר מלכא תוה וקם

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king he was amazed and he rose Verse 23

Nebuchadnezzar is here spelled more consistent with
the rest of Daniel as נבכדנצר

Line 3 הלא גברין תלתה רמינא לגו נורא

Were not these great men, three, we heaved into the
midst of the flame? The word three is תלתה
spelled differently than within the MT spelled as תלתא. Also לגו
    rather than לגוא.

Line 4 ענין ואמרין למלכא יציבא מלכא ones answering and ones saying to the king

    certainly before (answering) the king.

    Line 5 ואמר ?
    להדברוהי and the counselors
    saying.

The word order differs here from the MT.
